Why is the first procedure done without hyaluronidase? +
The first procedure uses D5 (5% dextrose) and a local anesthetic. It's diagnostic — it shows exactly how tight and restricted the fascia is — and it often provides meaningful relief by itself. Hyaluronidase is only added on a second procedure if that relief is incomplete.
What is hyaluronidase and is it safe? +
Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that temporarily breaks down hyaluronic acid within tissue, helping to loosen thick, fibrotic fascia and release adhered nerve branches. It's a well-studied medication with an established safety profile and a low risk of complications when used in this way, under ultrasound guidance.
How many procedures will I need? +
Usually 2–3 procedures total are sufficient. Some patients get lasting relief from the first, diagnostic procedure alone; others benefit from adding hyaluronidase on a second procedure. We'll build a specific plan with you based on your response to treatment.

Is this covered by insurance? +
Unlike most procedures at our office, fascia hydrodissection carries an out-of-pocket cost for every patient. With an accepted plan (Cigna, Anthem Blue Cross, Aetna, United Healthcare, or Medicare PPO), the price is reduced to $250 for the first procedure and $150 for each additional procedure. Without applicable insurance, the self-pay price is $350 for the first procedure and $250 for each additional procedure. Call us and we will walk you through the details.
What happens at the first visit? +
A full history and physical exam plus a diagnostic ultrasound of the affected area — so you leave with an accurate diagnosis, an understanding of every factor contributing to it, and a clear treatment plan.
